This kitchen extension in Parkstone has turned the back of the bungalow into a light, sociable space. A roof lantern sits above the island, pulling daylight down into the centre of the room, and a run of bi-fold doors opens the full width of the rear wall so the kitchen leads straight out onto the patio and garden.
The island gives plenty of worktop space and doubles as a spot to sit and chat while someone cooks, with the fridge and cabinetry arranged neatly along the back wall. The brickwork at the rear matches the rest of the bungalow, so the extension reads as part of the original house rather than an add-on.
It is a well proportioned space that makes the garden feel close at hand, whatever the weather.
