This rear extension in Hamworthy has turned the back of the house into a bright, open room the homeowners can put to all sorts of uses. A large square rooflight sits above the centre of the space, drawing daylight down through the middle of the room, and a triple window brings in extra light from the side.
French doors open out to the garden, giving an easy link between indoors and out on milder days. Flooring runs continuously throughout, and recessed ceiling spotlights keep the room feeling warm and welcoming once it gets dark outside.
It is a well proportioned addition, equally suited to family life during the day or quiet evenings in, with plenty of natural light whatever the time of day.
